Welcome to my (Canadian) arts & culture grant writing world...
Happy New Year & here we go…
OK, so bear with me...I am very much NOT social media or technologically inclined, but upon advice of someone much more brilliant than myself (thanks A.S. ;-)), here I am. Most of you (current & past clients) already know me, of course…but for those who don’t, a little about me:
I am a Vancouver (BC, Canada)-based arts administrator, and have worked in the BC arts community since 1989. A graduate of the University of Toronto’s Arts Administration Program, I have had leadership positions in a number of organizations, including arts service groups, galleries, artist cooperatives and municipal government agencies; in addition, I was responsible for the delivery of a municipal granting program working with local arts organizations for over a decade.
I founded my company (of one), Little Dog Creative Consulting, in 2005. Over the past 17+ years I have provided consulting services for over 300 clients (across the country) in fundraising planning, capacity building and grant writing.
Helping arts & culture folks find new grants and achieve better funding security, is simply what I love to do.
Oh…and if you are wondering why “Little Dog”…its simply because I didn’t want to name the company after myself, and since my dogs are much more photogenic, they get top billing. If you visit any of my sites/feeds, you’ll see a lot of them (be prepared)…these are the (current) little dogs, Winny & Toby:
Why now?
My goal is to be better connect with all you lovely arts folks, to provide more detailed (and regular) content regarding upcoming granting programs & other news of interest.
For those regular visitors to my website / subscribers to my emails, you already know of my LDCC arts grant database & LDCC monthly grant deadlines lists (oh, and the January & February deadline lists are now up, so check them out). Creating a Substack will allow me to start sharing more in-depth grant program information, as well as my own tips for better grant writing, on a more regular basis.
I am also really hoping to create more community dialogue around grants, funders and the whole sector, which will help us all. So if you have a new ‘hot tip’, please send it my way & I’ll be happy to add to my database & write about it here; or if you have a comment/story to share about a particular funding program I am writing about, by all means, let us know - bring on the hive mind!
What you can expect…
No, not more email spam in your in-box (I promise!). Just a few monthly missives about new (or existing) upcoming grant opportunities & how they might fit your / your organization’s projects and programs. Who knows, you might find a new grant program out there that you never knew of before?
Stay tuned…first (useful) post coming shortly…about the Canada Summer Jobs Program, the first deadline of the year (according the my grant calendar anyway)…coming fast on January 12th! More soon…
